All Suburban water heaters are designed for easy installation, operation and maintenance. The limit switch, reset button and on/off electric element rocker switch are conveniently located in a housing behind the removeable outer door. The electric heat element and combination drain plug/anode rod are also located there. For convenience of installation, rough-in openings for Suburban water heaters are small and less likely to interfere with RV exterior design.
Fast recovery means more hot water and fewer cool water cycles. Both 6- and 10-gallon Suburban gas water heaters feature 12,000 BTUH input and a recovery rate of 10.2 gallons per hour - that's the fastest recovery in the industry. Combination gas/electric models also use a 1,440-watt element to recover an additional 6.0 gallons per hour at campsites. For higher recovery, both the gas and electric element may be used simultaneously.
Suburban also uses a copolymer insulation jacket specially molded to fit the tank. This does a better job of retaining heat than the ''cardboard'' style used on some competitive models.
Heated water attacks all metals, but not porcelain. That's why Suburban uses a porcelain-lined, steel water heater tank with an anode rod to ''absorb'' the electrolytical action - just like your water heater at home. In fact, when a Suburban porcelain-lined tank is properly maintained, tank life may double or triple its three-year limited warranty, saving owners the cost of premature replacement. In addition, every Suburban tank is pressure tested twice during the manufacturing process to ensure its integrity.
Suburban water heaters are available in 6- and 10-gallon capacities. The standard gas models have become the industry standard, while Suburban's optional gas-electric model provides the added performance of a 1,440-watt element at campsites. Certain models are available with a motor aid heat exchanger, which utilizes heat from the motorhome's engine to help heat water during operation.
The standard pilot ignition system offers simple and reliable operation. On pilot reignition models, a reignitor eliminates the need to relight the pilot and sounds an alarm when the pilot is extinguished or the gas supply is turned off.
Suburban exterior doors stand up to the elements and frequent use, with corrosion-resistant steel finished in a tough, high-solids baked enamel for extra chip resistance. Standard Doors are installed without bending flanges or installing corner gussets for easy installation and a superior seal. Flush Mount Doors are pulled tight against the sidewall without screws, providing a neater appearance and added leak resistance. |
